This **Stropping Compound Set** is a practical set with a coarse and fine abrasive. The grey compound leaves you with a nice matted finish and the red compound leaves you with a lightly matted finish. Both ensure that you will end up with sharp results even faster when using your strop.

The grey compound corresponds with a grain 3000 synthetic sharpening stone and the red compound with a grain 5000 sharpening stone. Do, however, keep in mind that, when compared to sharpening stones, compounds hardly remove material. It won't sharpen your knife, it will polish it.

## Compound
With our stropping compounds you make your stropping paddle or stropping belt even more effective. They are available in multiple different grain sizes. From coarse to ultra-fine.

## Applying the compound
Before use, we recommend heating up the strop and compound first. On your heater or with a hair dryer, for instance. Do, however, always make sure the strop won't become too hot! Afterwards you add the compound to the strop. Like a crayon. A small layer is enough. The compound will stay in place for months. As such you don't have to apply a new layer of compound every time you wish to use the strop.

## Stropping
Stropping is the final step in the sharpening process. It is also an indispensable step if you are looking for ultimate sharpness and a shiny edge!

As you strop the edge of your knife you remove the smallest burrs, scratches and other imperfections that emerged as you used your sharpening stone. That is why stropping will only work if your knife is already really sharp. To make stropping on a leather strop even more effective, you use a so-called stropping compound or stropping paste. This is an extremely fine polishing agent that ensures you will end up with incredibly sharp results even faster.
