Our stropping belts are perfect when stropping your razors. You hang the stropping belt from a hook on the wall and apply tension to the leather by holding the handle. Even though stropping belts are mostly used to polish razors, you can also use them to strop your pocket and kitchen knives.
Why use a stropping belt?
Razors are delicate and do not need pressure when you strop them. Because you determine the tension on the belt, you will have extra control over the pressure you apply when you strop your razor.
Knives with a convex grind are also in great combination with a stropping belt. The stropping belt will follow the round profile of the convex edge because you determine the tension on the shaving belt.
Stropping
Stropping is the final step in the sharpening process. It is also an indispensable step if you are looking for ultimate sharpness and a shiny edge! As you strop the edge of your knife you remove the smallest burrs, scratches and other imperfections that emerged as you used your sharpening stone. That is why stropping will only work if your knife is already really sharp. To make stropping on a leather strop even more effective, you use a so-called stropping compound or stropping paste. This is an extremely fine polishing agent that ensures you will end up with incredibly sharp results even faster.
